Love at The Pelican

Corinne and Bruce met at a party celebrating Corinne’s 30th birthday.  He was the blind date for her roommate, who was hosting the party.  The roommate thing didn’t work out and after several months of getting to know each other, Corinne and Bruce became a couple.

Both had been going to Pawleys Island for many years before they met.  In July, 1989, they took their first trip there together, spending a long weekend at The Pelican Inn.  Three years later, they married.  Their daughters were born in 1994 and 1999.  

Between 1989 and 2010, they spent time each summer in Pawleys Island.  Sometimes they would rent a house with family or friends and sometimes, they’d stay at The Pelican.

In 2009, they decided it was time to buy their own Pawleys Island beach house.  While looking at properties, they learned that The Pelican Inn was on the market.  After months of soul searching, they decided that The Pelican was what they wanted.  In retrospect, it was always what they’d wanted.

The rest, as they say,  is history.
