Your Favorite Pie

HERMAN'S FUDGE PIE

 

Found on the floor of the pantry closet of the Inn when Corinne and Bruce were cleaning the kitchen after moving in - this recipe has become a loving staple of The Pelican Inn kitchen.

 

Pillsbury Pie Crust

1 stick of butter

3 oz. unsweetened baker’s chocolate

4 eggs

3 T. Karo syrup

1 1/2 c. sugar

1/4 t. salt

1 t. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350F.

Prepare pie dish with rolled out dough - set aside.

Chop chocolate and combine with butter in a microwave safe bowl. Heat gently to melt the chocolate. Can also use a double boiler.

Add the sugar to the butter/chocolate mix and whisk until incorporated. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add to prepared pie dish and bake until the center is JUST no longer jiggly. About 25-30 minutes, but check at 20 minutes.

Serve warm or chilled.
